Practice Measuring BP: Student Edition

Interactive practice module · Articulate Storyline

Practice Measuring BP: Student Edition screenshot

This module provides hands-on practice in accurate blood pressure measurement through a guided patient case. Learners make each decision in the procedure, from positioning the patient and selecting the cuff to identifying the systolic and diastolic readings, with actionable feedback at every step.

Problem

Practice Measuring BP was an existing, heavily used course selected to pilot in-module tracking and institutional distribution. Preparing it exposed two problems. On mobile, most images overlapped or misaligned: the course had been built at a non-standard slide size rather than the widescreen 16:9 ratio the Storyline player and its video components expect. And the course had significant accessibility gaps, with no alternative text for many of the measurement interactives and videos.

Approach

I added the tracking functionality, then revised the graphics throughout to display correctly at 16:9. I also conducted an accessibility audit, corrected the alternative-text gaps, and documented further revisions to improve the manual blood-pressure slides for keyboard and screen reader users.

Result

The course now works on mobile and was launched, bundled with other BP courses, as part of the American Medical Association™ (AMA) pilot institutionally hosted content offering, which lets institutions deliver AMA courses inside their own LMS.
